Ronald McDonald House Charities

Thursday, July 16, Ronald McDonald and his staff and volunteers will be on hand to share how the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) change children’s lives in Kentucky and ultimately the world. Through a special presentation, attendees will learn firsthand how the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well being of Kentucky’s children.

In operation since 1974, RMHC works through a global network in Kentucky, the United States, and 52 countries through three core programs—the Ronald McDonald House, the Ronald McDonald Family Room and the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile.

Educator support is critical to the RMHC, which is funded largely by individual and corporate donations and the work of hundreds of volunteers. A few key facts to know:

  • More than 1,700 Kentucky families with ill children were served in 2007
  • Kentucky volunteers logged more than 15,000 service hours this same year
  • Even in an economic downturn, RMHC will expand services 37 percent by 2010
  • More than 15,000 children were supported with life-changing surgeries through Interplast grants

Wondering how to get involved?

  • Make a donation while at KASA's 40th annual summer institute or sign up to volunteer
  • Place your spare change in the collection canisters at the McDonald's Restaurant cash registers and drive thru windows
  • Donate toys or food while families stay at the Ronald McDonald House
  • Host a collection drive for aluminum can tabs
  • Spread the word using Facebook, MySpace, Flickr, and YouTube.

To help meet the overwhelming needs, the planning committee has issued a KASA challenge to donate $5,000 to this worthwhile charity that cares for our children in numerous ways. Financial gifts, new toys and canned food items are welcome. Donors will receive a special thank you gift bearing Wayne’s 2009 Words of Wisdom.

Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to be a part of something big!
