Tim Hanner, superintendent of Kenton County Schools, was named Kentucky’s 2010 Superintendent of the Year, at the KASS Winter Conference in Louisville. View photos of the award presentation and celebration breakfast here.
The Kentucky Superintendent of the Year Award is presented by the Kentucky Association of School Administrators and is given annually to one superintendent who demonstrates:
- outstanding education leadership
- creativity in meeting the diverse needs of students
- strength in professional and personal communication
- consistent professional development
- motivation of district staff
- active involvement in the community
Recipients are selected by a statewide judging panel and receive a commemorative eagle sculpture. Scientific Learning provides a $2000 scholarship for a high school senior in his or her district.
The Kentucky Superintendent of the Year Award is a steppingstone to the American Association of School Administrators (AASA) national award. AASA will name the National Superintendent of the Year at its annual conference in February.
