2008 Tomorrow’s Leader Scholarship
Sponsored by Jostens and KASA, this educational administration scholarship includes tuition for two 3-hour summer courses, textbook reimbursement, and a travel stipend, a $3000 value.
The Tomorrow's Leader program is designed to assist an association member seeking administrative certification. The award recipient will be announced after May 18, 2008, and will be recognized at KASA’s 39th annual conference, July 16-18, 2008.
To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must
-
Be employed as a fulltime teacher or administrator in a local school district.
-
Be an active or associate KASA member at the time of application, and be an active member for the school year following receipt of the scholarship.
-
Be enrolled in a specific program or course of study at a university that leads to administrative certification.
-
Submit university program check sheet to verify enrollment. (Enrollment in a program that only results in rank change, or mere enrollment in graduate level classes does not qualify.)
-
Submit two letters of recommendation—one from the superintendent of the employing school district and one from a university representative with personal knowledge of the applicant.
-
Submit a typed, personal narrative, 300 to 500 words in length that is responsive to the following question, “If you were granted absolute authority over Kentucky’s schools for one day, and allowed to make one change, what would it be, and how would it benefit students?”
To apply:
Download the application and return to the KASA office by 4 p.m. May 5, 2008, with all supplementary documentation.
