Eddie Elder embodies the Fred spirit. He takes great pride in the school and constantly thinks of ways to improve the environment for both students and staff. Elder plays an integral role in daily instruction, and uses his many talents to assist teachers with active learning. He meets with them throughout the year to understand their needs, such as constructing a stage for students to perform vocabulary and literary moments, building ramps to investigate velocity and friction, designing an art gallery to showcase student work, and clearing land at personal expense to preserve a gravesite on school property. Elder is often found at his desk repairing a student’s eye glasses or gluing back the sole of a child’s shoe.
