Today, it is imperative that school and district personnel have the knowledge and skill needed to effectively manage and safeguard all school district funds.  Sign up now for one or both of these sessions, which are ideal for those who need a review of best practice or are new to school or district finance.

 

Fraud Detection & Effective Activity Fund Management (9 a.m. to 12 p.m.) This session will provide district and school administrators the information they need to effectively review and manage school activity fund accounts and identify Red Flags that are typically associated with fraud at the activity fund level. 

No Red Flags; No Red Faces: Everything You Need to Know About the Red Book (1 to 4 p.m.) An in-depth session that will go over everything you need to know about Activity Fund monies.  This session not only informs you on what internal controls are required; but what could happen if a school or district does not implement the required internal controls.  (Includes the newest version of the Red Book)

Presented by Ron Flannery, Accounting Firm of White & Associates, PSC
A leading authority on school financial matters, Flannery works with school districts year-round by providing training to district and school finance staff members and conducting audits and school activity fraud investigations.  He assists the University of Kentucky’s Gatton College of Business and the Kentucky Department of Education to certify school district administrators in the area of school finance. In addition, he was a vital contributor to the latest version of the Red Book, released in March 2008.  Flannery is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and is a retired Major in the U.S. Army Reserves.
