Classroom Customer Service
Presenter: Durell "Butch" Hamm

Explore the tools and questioning techniques to create a student-centered classroom. Based on the philosophy that teachers provide a customer service to students and their families, this session will focus on student engagement and effective communication skills, which include interpersonal communication and how to network with parents and community.

Mr. Hamm, a 24 year teaching veteran, currently teaches English and communication courses at Larry A. Ryle High School. He earned bachelor's and master's degrees at Morehead State University; library media services certification at Marshall University in West Virginia; and a Rank 1 certification in rhetoric and communications for Wayne State University in Michigan. Hamm is a leader of the 11-grade Individual Learning Team and has been a KTIP resource teacher. He has received a KY Distinguished Teacher Award from the Presidential Scholars and a U.S. Dept. of Education and an Excellence in Teaching Award from Campbellsville University and the 2010 Kentucky Teacher of the Year.
