Why Do You Have a Successful School? KY Schools Showcase

1 - 3:30 p.m.

Several schools have recently been identified as highly successful based on data from the TELL Kentucky survey and other academic indicators. Teacher and school leaders from some of these selected schools (representing elementary, middle and high schools) will attemp to answer the question "Why do you have a successful school?" Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a question and answer session after brief presentations by representatives from the schools.

Why are these schools considered successful?

The TELL Kentucky survey was an anonymous process which more than 80% of the state's educators participated and covered areas such as Instructional Practices, Professional Development, School Leadership and Teacher Leadership. This past November, Dr. Holliday recognized 49 schools as "Honorable Mentions" and ten schools as "Winner's Circle" award recipients. Criteria used to determine these 49 schools included student scores from the 2010-11 school year, school safety, and schools ranked in the TELL survey 3rd or 4th quartiles regarding working conditions. The 10 Winners Circle schools were recognized in a ceremony November 7 and are used as examples of best practices across the commonwealth.
