Through the lens of school an district PLC’s, this six-hour session focuses on the instructional leader's roles in school and district-wide implementation of KCAS.

 
 

Instructional leaders will engage in guided practice facilitating and monitoring professional learning communities as they implement KCAS. They will engage in reviewing teaching and learning artifacts as they are developed during collaborative sessions of the professional learning community. They also will develop probing questions to engage professional learning communities in rich discussion around KCAS and student learning.

Instructional leaders will use protocols for PLC's managing the work in a six week cycle.

Learning Targets:

  • Facilitate and monitor professional learning communities focused on the implementation of KCAS
  • Provide feedback to teachers supporting their work with the implementation of KCAS
  • Monitor professional learning communities as they bridge the gaps for all students
  • Provide guidance, assistance and support to teachers as they continue to deconstruct core standards into units of study
  • Make the connections between depth of knowledge and progressions of learning; learning targets and learning objectives; and student friendly learning targets and student objectives when reviewing teacher developed/selected artifacts, strategies and activities for teaching and learning
