Law Symposium - Overview
Overview
This two-day symposium will provide school administrators and attorneys with the knowledge needed to make legally sound decisions while reducing liability, litigation, and other potential legal missteps. This year's symposium will be held at the Griffin Gate Marriott Resort and Spa in Lexington, KY.
From personnel matters to technology use, legal experts from Kentucky and beyond will cover the spectrum of school law topics as they apply to educators’ daily operations.
Sessions
General sessions will cover topics including: Special Education and What You Need to Know in 2013 on Kentucky Law.
Additionally, concurrent education sessions will cover topics as diverse as school policy writing, fraud detetion and prevention, employee behavior, cyberbullying, sports policy, what new principals need to know, and many others.
Sessions will provide a mixture of practical examples and useful advice on dealing with emerging legal issues, making it useful to attorneys and educators alike as they attempt to operate within the boundaries of the U.S. Constitution, federal and state laws, and school district policy.

8 hrs EILA and 6.5 hrs CLE available
Registration includes access to the general and concurrent education sessions and materials, refreshments, lunch on Friday, and EILA Credit. Additional registration required for the pre-event workshop.
Cancellation Policy
All cancellations must be received in writing (mail, fax, or email) no later than Friday, May 31, 2013. Cancellations received by this date will be assessed a $30 processing fee, which reflects the cost of staff time to process the registration/cancellation and materials prepared and purchased on your behalf. Cancellations received after this date will not be refunded; however, substitutions are permitted for those wishing to be replaced by another representative from the district or organization. The appropriate member or nonmember rate will apply. Substitution requests must be made in wrting by June 3, 2013. Otherwise, they will need to be submitted to the registration counter on-site.
